Partner Visa

The Australia Partner Visa is a family migration visa designed for married couples, de facto partners, and engaged couples. It allows you to live in Australia with your partner who is an:
• Australian citizen
• Australian permanent resident
• Eligible New Zealand citizen

With this visa, you can live, work, and eventually obtain permanent residency (PR) in Australia.

Whether you are applying inside or outside Australia, as long as your relationship is genuine and ongoing, you may be eligible for different types of partner visas.

This visa is for applicants who are already in Australia.
• Subclass 820 – Temporary Partner Visa
• Subclass 801 – Permanent Partner Visa

You first receive the 820 visa, then transition to the 801 permanent visa after meeting requirements.

Key Benefits:

This visa is for applicants who are outside Australia at the time of application.
• Subclass 309 – Temporary visa
• Subclass 100 – Permanent visa

Process Overview:

This visa is designed for engaged couples who are not yet married.
• Allows you to enter Australia and marry your partner
• After marriage, you can apply for the 820 / 801 Partner Visa

Married Couples

• Legally married
• Relationship must be genuine and ongoing

De Facto Partners

• Not legally married
• Must have lived together for at least 12 months, OR
• Provide strong evidence of a committed relationship

Engaged Couples

• Planning to marry
• Intend to build a long-term life together in Australia
• Apply under Subclass 300 visa
